In my experience, there is not one anti-virus that will catch everything. For example, we had a client’s computer in the store that took five different anti-virus/anti-malware programs to scan it before it was finally clear. While it is not always an option to have more than one anti-virus Actively running on your computer (They can conflict with each other, or cause dramatic slowdown), you can take precautions. 1. Always have a backup of your data! If you don’t, you’re just asking for trouble. 2. Keep your antivirus current and up to date [Interactive Systems recommends ‘McAfee Total Protection’]. 3. Use what I like to call “Common Sense 2010” when browsing the internet: Steer clear of suspicious websites. The most common websites to get your PC infected are Adult websites, and websites letting you illegitimately download movies or software.
If you do find yourself to be a victim of a virus you cannot remove, the experienced professionals here in our office will be more than happy to take a look for you. We have a wide array of tools at our disposal for dealing with even the most stubborn infections.

Spam is an unavoidable part of online life, and it’s often hard to know exactly how to deal with it. Email filters have improved and now catch a much larger percentage of junk mail than ever before. Although that may be comforting, the threat of spam never really goes away.
Spam is mass-distributed, unsolicited email and instant messaging advertising. Most spam promotes get-rich-quick schemes, questionable products, fraudulent offers, or pseudo-legal services. Until recently, the main problem with spam besides annoyance was that much of it cheats consumers, undermining their confidence, and harms legitimate Internet marketers that use ethical practices.
But nowadays, spam emails can lead to identity theft. Cyber crooks are now using spam emails as a way to steal personal information such as passwords and credit card details, by masquerading as a trustworthy person or business in an official looking email.
We recommend the following tips to avoid future “spam-a-lot” frustration:
Do not reply to spam and, most importantly, don’t buy anything from spammers. To avoid spam make sure to use comprehensive security software, such as McAfee Total Protection. If you are interested in McAfee please call one of the support professional at Interactive Systems. We are a McAfee reseller and would be glad to answer any McAfee related questions you may have.
